Sadly, Atticus crossed the rainbow bridge in June of 2021. Atticus was smart, sensitive and had a caring heart. He comforted many children, adolescents and adults in his 18 years of service. We all miss Atticus but know he will always live on in our hearts.
RIP sweet boy... we will see you again...
Atticus
Cathy has 2 Registered Emotional Support Dogs who assist in the therapeutic process. Many of the adult and child patients enjoy BOO and Finch being present during their therapy sessions. Studies have shown that relationships with animals can bring about improved mental health, lowered blood pressure and the experience of unconditional love. These are only a few of the positives regarding the human/animal relationship. BOO and Finch are wonderful “ice breakers” for a child or adolescent who may be having a great deal of anxiety about coming to visit a therapist. BOO is a very sweet, long haired Papillon mix and Finch is an extremely friendly Yorkie-poo mix.
Both BOO and Finch are “people friendly.” They both enjoy the visitors who come to their office on a daily basis. All vaccinations for both BOO and Finch are up to date. Cathy and staff are sensitive to those of you who have allergies or other issues with dogs and have no problem keeping BOO and Finch in “time out” during your sessions. Both BOO and Finch understand that not all people are “animal people” and have no problem taking a break and staying in another area of the office. Please let us know prior to your initial session and we will work with you regarding your needs. It should also be noted that BOO and Finch are a big part of the Play Therapy sessions with children. We oftentimes take BOO and Finch on a walk during the sessions. Oftentimes, children play like they are vets and BOO and Finch are their “dog patients.” BOO and Finch have also played many other roles during the Play Therapy sessions and are very patient, allowing children to interact with them during their creative play time. If Finch is in the mood, he also enjoys doing some of his tricks for his little human playmates.
BOO
BOO is a Pappilion mix. She was a rescue and now thinks she is a "PRINCESS!" BOO is shy at first, but will warm up as she gets to know you. BOO is very sweet and will
sit in your lap when
she feels you need comfort.
Finch
BOO was very sad when her brother and best friend, Atticus, crossed The Rainbow Bridge. Because of this, we had to find BOO a baby brother. His name is Finch. Now, BOO has a feisty little brother to help her take care of everyone who visits our office. Finch is a Yorkie-Poo. He is very welcoming and loves to be the center of attention. Finch also enjoys showing off by doing his tricks for all to see.
