Cathy has 2 Registered Emotional Support Dogs who assist in the therapeutic process. Many of the adult and child patients enjoy Atticus and Boo being present during their therapy sessions. Studies have shown that relationships with animals can bring about improved mental health, lowered blood pressure and the experience of unconditional love. These are only a few of the positives regarding the human/animal relationship. Atticus and Boo are wonderful “ice breakers” for a child or adolescent who may be having a great deal of anxiety about coming to visit a therapist. Atticus is an extremely friendly Bichon/Poodle mix. Boo is a very sweet, long haired Papillon/Chihuahua mix.

Both Atticus and Boo are “people friendly.” They both enjoy the visitors who come to their office on a daily basis. All vaccinations for both Atticus and Boo are up to date. Cathy and staff are sensitive to those of you who have allergies or other issues with dogs and have no problem keeping Atticus and Boo in “time out” during your sessions. Both Atticus and Boo understand that not all people are “animal people” and have no problem taking a break and staying in another area of the office. Please let us know prior to your initial session and we will work with you regarding your needs. It should also be noted that Atticus and Boo are a big part of the Play Therapy sessions with children. We oftentimes take Atticus and Boo on a walk during the sessions. Oftentimes, children play like they are vets and Atticus and/or Boo are their “dog patients.” Atticus and Boo have also played many other roles during the Play Therapy sessions and are very patient, allowing children to interact with them during their creative play time. If Atticus is in the mood, he also enjoys doing some of his tricks for his little human playmates. Since Boo is still young, she is working on her "tricks." Boo loves to bring you her favorite toy so that you can play fetch with her Both Atticus and Boo believe in our Play Room motto which is.....
